Ali is a Principal of Spirit Living Group, leading development and acquisition efforts. Before founding Spirit, he was Vice President at The GMS Group, specializing in real estate and senior housing finance, where he opened the West Coast office.
Earlier, he practiced law at Hanson Bridgett, representing real estate and senior housing owners nationwide. He is also a founding principal of AgeSong, serving as President until 2007. Ali holds a B.A. from UC Berkeley and a J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law, where he has been a guest lecturer.
Passionate about modern architecture inspired by Mies van der Rohe, Ali also enjoys Vipassana meditation following the teachings of Jack Kornfield at Spirit Rock and running half marathons, with a personal best of 1:42.
Amir is a Principal of Spirit Living Group, overseeing finance, operations, and strategic growth. A founding principal of AgeSong, he has held leadership roles including Executive Director, CFO, and CEO, and was recognized with the American Society on Aging’s National Award for Excellence.
Amir is a graduate of the Wharton School and the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, where he also taught and served as Vice-Chair of Starr King School for the Ministry. He is a trustee of Golestan Kids and a former trustee of the Helix School.
Beyond his professional work, Amir has coached individuals on living from their spiritual center, led meditation programs in county jails, and walked the 850km coastal stretch of the Camino de Santiago in 30 days. His interests include sketch comedy, tennis, and mountain biking.
Paula leads operations and program development for Spirit Living Group, bringing nearly three decades of experience improving services for older adults. She has held senior leadership roles with AgeSong, Elder Care Alliance, and ARV Assisted Living, overseeing operations, marketing, strategic planning, and program development.
Earlier in her career, she directed the City of Anaheim’s Adult Day Care Program and worked in medical social work. She holds a Master’s in Social Work from San Jose State University and has been active in industry associations, including leadership roles at ALFA (now Argentum), CALA, and the California Health Policy and Data Advisory Commission.
Paula is also co-founder of The Connected Horse Project, a nonprofit partnering with Stanford and UC Davis to explore equine-guided programs for people living with dementia.
Rod is a Project Manager at Spirit Living Group, contributing to every phase of development from market research and financial analysis to construction coordination and stakeholder engagement.
His work supports the company’s mission to create senior living communities that combine beauty, functionality, and a strong sense of belonging. Before joining Spirit, Rod worked in business development at Urban Green Investments, sourcing new opportunities and building strategic partnerships for a national portfolio. He holds a degree in Finance from Santa Clara University’s Leavey School of Business.
An avid outdoorsman, Rod enjoys photography, skiing, and traveling to explore new landscapes and cultures.
Jeffrey is a seasoned gerontologist and consultant specializing in aging services, senior living operations, and market development. At Spirit Living Group, he advises on program innovation, market trends, and operational strategies. His career spans over 25 years, including leadership roles as Regional Marketing and Operations Director for senior living organizations, and faculty positions teaching Ethics and Health Care Law at San Francisco State University.
Jeffrey has led notable initiatives such as developing long-term care strategies for the United Nations in China, creating the Sunflower Program for older adult mental health, and coordinating geriatric care for retired NFL players. He holds a Master’s in Gerontology from San Francisco State University and a Bachelor’s in Economics from Kansas State University.
Outside of work, Jeffrey enjoys travel, creative writing, and studying the intersection of aging and wellness.
Alex serves as Spirit Living Group’s controller, bringing more than 20 years of experience strengthening the fiscal health of start-ups, high-growth companies, and nonprofits. She is skilled in system implementation, compliance, GAAP reporting, and translating complex data into actionable strategies.
Her expertise includes ASC 606 revenue recognition, cash management, intercompany transactions, and audit preparation, as well as building and mentoring high-performing finance teams. Alex holds a B.S. in Applied Economics from the University of San Francisco.
A lifelong animal lover, she finds balance in trail running, hiking, traveling to national parks, and enjoying time in nature.
